An all-American breed, the American Shorthair is an intelligent shorthair with a round face and small ears. There were many deaths in domestic mixed-breed kits, but purebreds did. The breed's name was changed in 1966 to distinguish them from domestic shorthair cats. This medium-sized cat has a gentle nature that makes this breed an excellent companion for families with children or other pets. The American Shorthair is one of the most popular pedigree cat breeds in North America.
