Five ways to keep your pet calm during fireworks

THE STARTING OF A NEW YEAR WITH NEW HOPES!
With all the hoopla, food, friends, and fireworks, it's easy to forget that it can actually be a very stressful time for your pet. Animals' hearing is incredibly sensitive and the sound of fireworks (if your pet isn't used to them) can be terrifying. To help make ringing in the New Year safe and fun for both you and your pet, we've put together 5 ways to keep your pet calm during the fireworks.
Keep your pets inside
The sounds can often be amplified outside and the crowds can be very stressful for you, so during fireworks celebrations, it is best to keep your pets at home. If you need to leave them alone at home, make sure all doors, windows are tightly closed and the TV is on to distract them from the fireworks outside.
Make sure they have a safe place at home.
Create a small sanctuary of peace and tranquility for your pet at home. Set up a room or crate with their favorite blanket and make sure windows are closed and curtains are drawn to block out light or loud noises. Having a place for your pet to retreat to during parties and other events is important to building their confidence and helping them to relate positively to the events.
Distract him with toys.
Sometimes keeping your friend occupied with some toys and treats is the best way to keep them safe and calm during fireworks. Keeping the TV on low volume may also help.
exercise them
It might sound weird, but zooming around the park or chasing a toy is a great way to tire your pet out so they can take a nap during the festivities. A tired person is less likely to be disturbed by the noise and light of the fireworks.
Use some soothing products.
If all else fails, it's best to try some soothing products. Made from organic materials, they can help reduce your pet's anxiety and keep them calm and safe during fireworks and festivals.
